Acupuncture is the insertion of a very small acupuncture needle (the diameter of a hair) into specific points on the body located on specific pathways  (meridians or channels) to produce a homeostatic therapeutic response. The needles are left in from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on the condition being treated.  The number of acupuncture needles used and their placement on the body will vary depending on the condition being treated.
